Franco Serblin Story
In 1983, Franco Serblin founded Sonus Faber in Vicenza, Italy amidst a speaker market dominated by boxy designs. He revolutionized the industry with his artisanal approach, drawing inspiration from Italian furniture and musical instrument craftsmanship. Serblin’s curved cabinets, exotic woods, and luxurious Italian leather became iconic design elements.
He sold Sonus faber in 2006 and launched his eponymous brand, debuting the Ktêma four years later, followed by the Accordo. Despite his passing in 2013, his legacy lives on through his son-in-law, Massimiliano Favella, who continues to honor Serblin’s vision.
Serblin’s unreleased concepts inspire new models, staying true to his spirit, philosophy, and craftsmanship. His words reflect his lifelong dedication to music and the artistry of musical instruments, shaping his pioneering speaker systems with precision and passion.
Specifications
Geometry: 3-way floorstanding vented box loudspeaker.
Cabinet: Super rigid, arch shaped solid wood structure, decoupled with aluminum / magnesium parts. Hand crafted by master artisans.
Tweeter: 29mm silk dome by Ragnar Lian, one of the greatest masters among transducer designer. An ongoing project for 30 years.
Mid Woofer: Custom made 150 mm microspheres cone, optimized for the best control of cone breakup. Symmetrical drive motor system.
Woofer: 180 mm microspheres cone, aluminum dust cap.
Crossover: Phase coherent finalized to achieve precise soundstaging, focus and depth of image. The crossover provides completely phase accurate transitions between drivers to preserve the recordings spatial information.
