Home Country: Sweden
Elegant simplicity. Those two words pretty much sum up the austere and gorgeous marque that is Primare of Sweden. The intentional lack of front panel controls masks what is actually a highly sophisticated and thoughtful electrical design. Mind you, good looks are simply not enough when it comes to making great sound. Fortunately for the listener, Primare does not disappoint when it comes to the natural reproduction of music and film soundtracks.
Noise isolation is taken to the extreme by siting most of the control circuits in a separate front panel, away from the critical audio signal path. The use of multiple power supplies to feed disparate sections of the pre and power amp modules help to further refine performance, bringing the listener closer to what the director and sound mixer intended.
We live in a world of rapidly changing technologies. Primare addresses this dilemma by using a modular design-build approach, a rare feat for a product of this type. Upgrade boards for audio and video functions are offered when appropriate, satisfying the needs of emerging technologies whilst maintaining a high return on cost of ownership.
A recent example of this is the inclusion of 3-D video pass-thru on all five HDMI inputs, and decoding of Blu-ray audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. These upgrades were made available to existing owners via a simple board swap, eliminating the need to purchase a completely new unit.
Primare’s home cinema product range includes the SPA23 integrated amplifier, SP33 preamplifier, A30.7 7-channel amplifier, and the class leading BD32 universal disc player. Not just another pretty face, having the BD32 as the heart of your system ensures that every musical nuance is faithfully retained, delivering all the power and emotion that music and film encapsulate.
